Takuan Soho; Matsuo Bashō

A Haiku. And it’s not just the Spring that comes, not just the grass that grows, ‘by itself.’

‘Sitting quietly, doing nothing,
Spring comes, and the grass grows,
by itself.’

                            Matsuo Bashō

I recently stumbled on Scott Wilson’s excellent translation of Takuan Soho’s collection of essays: ‘The Unfettered Mind’ on the Net, placed there in its entirety by a Mr. Alexandros Marinos.

‘The Mysterious Record Of Immovable Wisdom’: Zen Tradition elaborating on the Self-Negating Expression.
